Flip & Write

The present WP aims at identifying good practices in higher education to promote writing competences through the use of information and communication technologies. While this project will provide new tools to support individual and collaborative discipline-general digital writing competences, it is important to identify practices to support how digital writing may take form in a specific sector or discipline.
The specific objectives of this WP are: i) provide examples of writing competence in technology-rich environments for each main disciplinary sector (humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, formal sciences, applied sciences); ii) foster exchange of practices and collaborations in HE teaching between colleagues from different universities; iii) identify neglected aspects of digital writing and guide reflection.

The Writing LAB

The objective of this WP is to create a digital learning environment to implement a Writing to learn and reflect Lab. In particular, we will provide training on how to write argumentative synthesis. This is an assignment in which students write from contradictory sources addressing the same topic in order to argue their own personal position on that topic. Controversial issues that affect our society can be found at most of the knowledge domains, such as nuclear energy or transgenic food, and any citizen may argue on them. Besides, the Lab materials will be complemented with an innovative technological contribution: a tool for tracking students’ use of the training provided. This information will be analyzed to extract students’ patterns and infer ways to improve the educational intervention. In addition to the virtual Lab, a blended learning workshop will be held in the University of Cantabria.

Collaborative writing

The present WP aims at enhancing the skill of collaborative writing. Students are often faced with the request to collaborate in mutual documents and need strategies for achieving equal and shared responsibility.  This will be done by visualizing the edit processing for student pairs while working on a comprehensive writing task.
The specific objectives of this WP are: i) implementing tools that supports collaboration in writing assignments; ii) explore student attitudes and experiences on collaborative writing.
